2022-01-0085
In recent years, intelligent driving technology is being extensively studied. This paper proposes a path planning method for perpendicular parking based on vehicle kinematics model using MPC optimization, which aims to solve the perpendicular parking task. Firstly, in the case of any initial position and orientation of the vehicle, judging whether the vehicle can be parked at one step according to the location of the parking place and the width of the lane, and then calculating the starting position for parking, and use the Bezier curve to connect the initial position and the starting position. Secondly, reference parking path is calculated according to the collision constraints of the parking space. Finally, because the parking path based on the vehicle kinematics model is composed of circle arcs and straight lines, the curvature of the path is discontinuous. The reference parking path is optimized using Model Predictive Control (MPC).

Parking Slots Allocation for Multiple Autonomous Valet Parking Vehicles

2022-03-29
2022-01-0148
Although autonomous valet parking technology can replace the driver to complete the parking operation, it is easy to cause traffic chaos in the case of lacking scheduling for multiple parking agents, especially when multiple cars compete for the same parking slot at the same time. Therefore, in order to ensure orderly traffic and parking safety, it is necessary to allocate parking slots reasonably for multiple autonomous valet parking vehicles. The parking slots allocation model is built as an optimal problem with constraints. Both parking mileage cost and parking difficult cost are considering at the objective function in the optimization problem. There are three types of constraints. The first is the capacity limit of a single parking slot, the second is the space limit occupied by a single vehicle, and the third is the total capacity limit of the parking lot. After establishing parking slots allocation model, the immune algorithm is coded to solve the problem.

2022-01-0730
The separation and analysis of the torque of the permanent magnet synchronous motor is of great significance for optimizing the torque output of the motor. Based on the frozen permeability method, the virtual work principle (VWP) or the Maxwell stress tensor method (MSTM) is often used to separate the torque for torque analysis. However, considering the influence of non-ideal factors such as motor saturation, cross-coupling and flux harmonics, there are differences in torque separation between the VWP and the MSTM, which has been researched and analyzed in this paper. Based on this, for the assisted airspace barrier design of a surface-inserted permanent magnet synchronous motor, to conduct theoretical research on the torque optimization design, this paper uses the VWP to separate the average torque and the MSTM to separate the torque ripple.

High-powered and modularity is the trend for fuel cell systems. Similar to the evolution from single-cylinder to multi-cylinder in conventional internal combustion engines, fuel cell systems shall also follow this developing process. Compared to single-stack fuel cell systems, multi-stack fuel cell systems (MFCS) can enhance the system maximum output power and improve the system performance. To achieve modular design and improve the performance of high-powered MFCS, a MFCS stacks allocation optimization algorithm based on genetic algorithms is proposed in this paper. First, remaining useful life (RUL) and efficiency are choosing as an integrated optimization index, the decision model for MFCS stacks allocation is developed. Then, a heavy-duty commercial vehicle was used as an example to match the vehicle power train parameters. The genetic algorithm is used to solve the global optimal stacks allocation scheme for the vehicle in a specific application scenario.

Engine compartment thermal management can achieve energy saving and emission reduction. The structural design of the components in the engine compartment affects the thermal fluid flow performance, which in turn affects the thermal management performance. In this paper, based on the phenomenon that the surface of the parts in the engine compartment is abnormally high due to design defects of an SUV engine compartment bottom shield, the engine compartment is modeled and analyzed by CFD using the software STAR-CCM+. It is not conducive to the heat dissipation, so the bottom shield needs to be redesigned. To redesign the shape of the bottom shield, four dimensions and one coordinate value were selected as the design parameters, and the oil pan maximum surface temperature was selected as the optimization target. The Latin hypercube sampling method was used to sample the space uniformly, and the experimental design plan was constructed and simulated.

2022-01-0184
The layout of component in the engine compartment affects the fluid flow performance, thereby affects the thermal management performance. Based on the fluid flow performance in the engine compartment of an SUV, this paper proposes local optimization plans of the cooling module—moving downward the oil cooler and forward the intercooler, tilting an angle of the cooling module and shifting the fan. This paper took the fan center temperature as the optimization goal and set three levels for the four factors. It was found that the deviation of the fan has the most significant impact on fan center temperature among four factors. Then we discovered that the interaction between the factors has a significant impact on the air intake volume of the cooling module.

2022-01-0281
In this paper, a linear oscillatory actuator (LOA) with moving magnets used in active engine mount is modeled and theoretically analyzed considering its performance decline at high temperature. Firstly, a finite element model (FEM) of the LOA with moving magnets is established. The actuator force is decomposed to ampere force and cogging force through formation mechanism analysis. By using the FEM, ampere forces and cogging forces of the LOA with moving magnets under different current loads and different mover positions are calculated. The FEM and calculation method are validated by bench level test. The voice coil constant and cogging coefficient at normal temperature are identified, which indicates the actuator force is a linear model related to the current and the mover position.

Efficient Trajectory Planning for Tractor-Trailer Vehicles with an Incremental Optimization Solving Algorithm

2022-03-29
2022-01-0138
A tractor-trailer vehicle (TTV) consists of an actuated tractor attached with several full trailers. Because of its nonlinear and noncompleted constraints, it is a challenging task to avoid collisions for path planner. In this paper, we propose an efficient method to plan an optimal trajectory for TTV to reach the destination without any collision. To deal with the complicated constraints, the trajectory planning problem is formulated as an optimal control problem uniformly, which can be solved by the interior point method. A novel incremental optimization solving algorithm (IOSA) is proposed to accelerate the optimization process, which makes the number of trailers and the size of obstacles increase asynchronously. Simulation experiments are carried out in two scenarios with static obstacles. Compared with other methods, the results show that the planning method with IOSA outperforms in the efficiency.

2022-01-0690
The efficiency and durability of fuel cells are affected by internal water content. Therefore, the active control of humidity is of great significance for vehicle fuel cells, especially for self-humidifying fuel cell systems. To realize fuel cell internal humidity active control, it is necessary to collect the humidity information of stack in real time, so as to carry out feedback control. However, humidity sensor has the characteristics of high cost and low durability, so it is more practical to get the feedback value of humidity by using state estimation method for high-power commercial fuel cell system such as vehicle fuel cell. However, humidity estimation is often affected by other physical or chemical dynamic processes, such as oxygen transportation and response process of electrical appliances. In order to weaken the influence of other physical or chemical dynamic processes on humidity estimation, this paper proposes an adaptive sliding mode Kalman observer (ASMK) algorithm.

2022-01-7005
It is becoming an increasingly important issue to improve NVH performance of electric drive motor for electric vehicle as the market grows rapidly. The correlation between stiffness of rear cover of motor, rotor eccentricity and noise of an electric drive is discussed in this paper which was few mentioned before. Poor stiffness of bearing chamber of rear cover may cause rotor eccentricity, which would lead to additional orders of electromagnetic noise. Stiffness optimization model of rear cover of motor was established, and the Optistruct of Hyper works software was used to improve stiffness as well as mode frequency by designing circular and radial ribs to surround bearing chamber of rear cover under guidance of topology. As compared to basis model with same mass, the 1st and 2nd strict mode frequencies of optimized rear cover separately increased by 11% and 12.5% with numerical simulations.

2021-01-0925
Off-road trucks, tractors and earth-moving machines are at high risk of accidents involving falling objects or rollovers. Therefore, these machines need proper protective structures to protect operators. This study investigates the crashworthiness optimization of a hydraulic excavator cab roof rail based on an improved bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization (BESO) method considering two different load cases (a lateral quasi-static load and an impact load from the top of cab, respectively). In the crashworthiness optimization problem, a weighted summation of external works done by the two different load cases is treated as the objective function while the volume of design domain is treated as the constraint. A mutative weight scheme is proposed to stabilize the optimization and balance the two load cases. Finite element (FE) model is established and two prototypes are fabricated based on the optimal design.

The mechanical claw is an important functional part of intelligent sanitation vehicles. Its performance significantly influences the functional reliability and structural safety of intelligent sanitation vehicles. The load of the trash changes extensively during the work of the mechanical claw. Hence, a comprehensive consideration of structural uncertainty during designing is needed to meet performance requirements. Uncertainty optimization design should be applied to reduce the sensitivity of structural performance to uncertain factors and ensure the robust performance of the mechanical paw structure. In this study, a numerical model of the mechanical claw of novel intelligent sanitation vehicles is established first in SolidWorks, and a finite element model is built by Optistruct. Based on the analysis of uncertain load factors of the mechanical claw, a robust mathematical model of uncertain factors is established by the Gauss-Chebyshev and Smolyak algorithm.

2021-01-0668
Active engine mount (AEM) is an effective approach which can optimize the noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) performance of vehicles. The filtered-x-least-mean-squares (FxLMS) algorithm is widely applicated for vibration attenuation in AEMs. However, the performance of FxLMS algorithm can be deteriorated without an accurate secondary path estimation. First, this paper models the secondary path using finite impulse response (FIR) model, infinite impulse response (IIR) model and back propagation (BP) neural network model and the model errors of which are compared to determine the most accurate and robust modeling method. After that, the influence of operation frequency on accuracy of the secondary path model is analyzed through simulation approach. Then, the impact of reference signal mismatch on the control effect is demonstrated to study the robustness of FxLMS algorithm.

2021-04-06
2021-01-0669
The turbocharger air intake noise during transient conditions like wide open throttle and tip-in/out affects the passenger ride comfort. This paper aims to study an optimized design of multi-chamber perforated resonators to attenuate this noise. The noise produced by a turbocharger in a test vehicle has been measured to find out the noise spectral characteristics which can be used to design the acoustic targets including the amplitude and frequency range of transmission loss (TL). The structural parameters of the resonators are optimized based on genetic algorithm (GA) and two-dimensional prediction theory of the resonator TL. The optimized resonators are installed on the test vehicle to verify the actual noise reduction effect. The results suggest that the broadband noise has been eliminated, and subjective feelings are greatly improved.

Attributable to its comprehensive advantages of good vibration isolation performance and low cost, air engine mount is gradually being applied in vehicle powertrain vibration reduction. In the present paper, a full vehicle nonlinear model considering air engine mount was established to describe the characteristics of engine shake better. A Jacobian-free Newton-Krylov (JFNK) method for solving nonlinear equations was proposed to simulate the model more efficiently. The result demonstrated that air engine mount has great influence on engine shake characteristics under the front wheel excitation. Then the influence of air engine mount parameters on engine shake characteristics was discussed. Finally, the engine shake characteristics considering air engine mount and hydraulic engine mount were compared and the result showed the former resonance frequency was higher.

2020-01-1173
Gas distribution of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) is mainly decided by flow field of bipolar plate. The improper design of distributing channel, nonuniform gas flow distribution and current density distribution among different straight channels are the leading factors that could tremendously undermine the performance and life expectancy of the cell. However, there is lack of research focusing on distributing channel in straight-parallel flow field. In this work, a three-dimensional numerical model of PEMFC cathode flow field is developed with CFD method to investigate the effects of configuration type and width of the distributing channel on pressure distribution in distributing channel and on reactant flow distribution, pressure drop and concentration distribution in multiple straight channel. Effects of electrochemical reaction and formation of water on the flow distribution are taken into consideration.

2020-01-1372
The conducted emissions of DC motors have been a very important content when testing electromagnetic noise. It has certain practical guiding significance to optimize and improve the motor in the design stage through the simulation of conducted emissions circuit level. The existing literature research shows that the simulation results can not reflect the test results of the conducted emissions of the motor well because it is difficult to accurately model the armature winding and the commutation process of the motor in the electromagnetic simulation of the conducted emissions circuit level of the DC brush motor. In this paper, an electromagnetic simulation modeling method for conducted emissions of DC motor is proposed. The circuit model established in the PSPICE can simulate the actual conducted emissions values of DC motor by the method.

2020-01-0626
With the rapidly developing automotive industry and stricter environmental protection laws and regulations, lightweight materials, advanced manufacturing processes and structural optimization methods are widely used in body design. Therefore, in order to evaluate and improve the pedestrian protection during a collision, this paper presents an impact simulation modeling and structural optimization method for a sport utility vehicle engine hood made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Head injury criterion (HIC) was used to evaluate the performance of the hood in this regard. The inner panel and the outer panel of CFRP hood were discretized by shell elements in LS_DYNA. The Mat54-55 card was used to define the mechanical properties of the CFRP hood. In order to reduce the computational costs, just the parts contacted with the hood were modeled. The simulations were done in the prescribed 30 impact points.

Bi-Directional Evolutionary Structural Optimization for Crashworthiness Structures

2020-04-14
2020-01-0630
Gradient based topology optimization method is difficult used to optimization of crashworthiness structures due to the expensive computational cost of sensitivity analysis and complex nonlinear behaviors (geometric nonlinearity, material nonlinearity and contact nonlinearity) of structures during a collision. Equivalent static loads (ESLs) method is one of the methods for nonlinear dynamic response optimization. However, this method ignores the material nonlinearity. Thus this paper proposes an improved topology optimization method for crashworthiness structure based on a modified ESLs method. A new calculation of ESLs considering material nonlinearity is proposed. The improved ESLs method is employed to transform the nonlinear dynamic response optimization into a nonlinear static response optimization with multiple load cases. Each element in the design domain is assigned with a design variable.
